Welcome to a monthly dose of f2f time with me. This time, I’ll offer you a tool that can be a huge help for any of the following:
You’re creatively stuck.
You want to learn to become more present.
You want to take a meaningful break from your daily chores.
You want to bring some new flavour to a creative project.
You are a solo-traveller and want an activity you can do while having dinner alone.
This exercise is a great one to combine with taking a little field trip outside, so pack your pen and paper (or cellphone), watch the video and get going.
You’ll find the instructions in text format below as well.

How to do this exercise
Choose a setting where you can do this excercise. It can be somewhere familiar or new to you. Don’t overcomplicate it.
Choose an object to focus on such as a person, a tree, a building, a piece of decor, a conversation etc. It doesn’t have to be anything spectacular. The more mundane the better.
Write down or draw every detail about your object. What tickles your curiosity? What is beautiful, ugly, strange or profound about the object?
You can give yourself 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or 30 minutes to do this. The more time you give, the more challenging it might get but that’s the whole point! Don’t succumb to boredom, but keep yourself engaged.
At the end of the exercise, see how you feel.
What you have created might be something useful or then not. It might also have been just a break, a little refresh for your brain.
Feel free to share your experience in an email or in the comments below.

Be the hope you want to feel in this world.
With kindness,
